Moldova is advancing its digital transformation agenda by participating in the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI) Large-Scale Pilot Projects (LSP), reinforcing its commitment to aligning with EU digital standards. As part of the WE BUILD consortium, Moldova is leveraging its burgeoning IT sector, exemplified by the Moldova Innovation Technology Park, which hosts over 2,100 companies and contributes significantly to the national GDP. The country's favorable business environment has attracted major tech firms, positioning it as a regional digital hub.

The e-Governance Agency of Moldova (AGE) will play a pivotal role in developing and testing secure Business-to-Government solutions, integrating digital wallets with EU public services. This initiative aims to foster best practices and promote the widespread adoption of digital identity wallets for both public and private e-services. Moldova's existing digital infrastructure, including its preliminary Digital Identity Wallet within the EVO national public services app and the EVOSign authentication tool, demonstrates its readiness for EUDI. This project, a first for Moldova under the Digital Europe Programme, marks a significant step in its digital evolution.

EUDI wallets will enable individuals and businesses to securely access online services, store and share digital documents, and create legally binding electronic signatures. Each EU Member State will develop its own wallet application based on common specifications, ensuring interoperability across the EU. The LSPs are essential for refining EUDI development, testing specifications, and shaping the legal framework for EUDI integration into EU law. Funded by the Digital Europe Programme, these projects aim to accelerate digital adoption across various sectors. The WE BUILD consortium, comprising approximately 200 partners from EU Member States and the private sector, will lead this initiative. Moldova's participation underscores its dedication to digital innovation and its strategic alignment with EU digital standards, positioning it as a key player in the region's digital landscape.
