Kazakhstan introduces its "Digital Nomad Residency," a pioneering initiative designed to draw global IT talents by offering a streamlined route to permanent residency within the nation.

In a strategic move to bolster its burgeoning technology sector, Kazakhstan has unveiled the "Digital Nomad Residency" project. This innovative program offers a simplified pathway for highly skilled international IT professionals seeking permanent residency in the country. Aspiring applicants are required to obtain an individual identification number (IIN) and a digital signature (DS) as initial prerequisites. The application process commences through the Astana Hub portal, where candidates must submit a comprehensive online application, including essential documents, to secure a petition from the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan (MDDIAI RK), officially recognizing their qualifications as IT specialists.

Upon successful acquisition of the MDDIAI RK petition, the subsequent crucial step for foreign IT professionals involves seeking formal approval for permanent residency through Kazakhstan's national e-government platform, eGov.kz. This entirely online procedure necessitates applicants to log in to the portal and navigate to the relevant migration services section. As part of this stage, candidates are required to upload a series of key documents, including a translated and certified copy of their passport, a digital photograph adhering to specific size requirements, the previously obtained MDDIAI RK petition, and a legalized criminal record certificate from their country of origin or permanent residence.

The meticulous review process for permanent residency applications typically spans a period of 45 calendar days. Following successful completion of this review, approved IT specialists are then authorized to travel to Kazakhstan to finalize their registration in person at the designated offices of the Citizen Service Center. This ambitious initiative represents a collaborative endeavor involving various key government bodies and technology-focused organizations within Kazakhstan. By actively welcoming international expertise into its digital landscape, the Digital Nomad Residency program underscores Kazakhstan's strategic commitment to fostering innovation and growth within its technology sector.

Kazakhstan's proactive approach to attracting global IT talents through its digital nomad program positions the nation as a rising hub for international technological innovation and expertise.
