The e-signature platform, part of the UGBypass project, links directly to existing government identity databases such as NIRA and DCIC. This ensures that every digital signature is backed by a verified, authenticated individual. By issuing a unique digital certificate to each user, the system creates an immutable chain of custody, making it impossible for a signer to later deny their involvement with a document. This integrated, multi-layered approach to identity verification is crucial for eliminating the loopholes often exploited by fraudsters.   ### **Rebuilding Trust, Enhancing Efficiency** The initiative is a direct response to a crisis of trust and significant financial losses. The Auditor General’s 2023 report highlighted over Shs3 trillion (USD 857M) lost to procurement fraud linked to forged contracts and fake approvals. The new e-signature platform is designed to close these vulnerabilities by providing a secure, traceable method for authenticating official documents.
